A little over five years since the $4.3 billion project was launched, this commitment has been met and the new Karachaganak Processing Complex (KPC), Unit 2 and the export pipeline are now operational. On 1st of August 2003 KPC was officially opened by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev
